A Brief History of the Deep South Region AACA

On January 19, 1967, twenty-nine Mobile area antique car buffs applied for a charter in the Antique Automobile Club of America.  The petition was approved in February, and a charter was issued on March 7, 1967.  The Deep South Region was born.

In the 1980’s, an old building was purchased and moved to city property across from Langan Park making the DSR one of the few antique car clubs in the country to have its own clubhouse. Club members donated their time, manpower and skills to turn the old office building into a beautiful space for meetings. Today, that clubhouse has been expanded and the park-like grounds improved to better host club events.

A regular meeting is held in the clubhouse on the fourth Thursday of each month with refreshments at  6pm followed by the meeting at 7.

The DSR is dedicated to the preservation and appreciation of antique automobiles and the spirit of camaraderie that goes along with that pursuit.  Owning an antique car is not a requirement to join the DSR, however, you must be a member of our parent organization, the Antique Automobile Club of America.  Dues for the AACA are $45, and $20 for the DSR.
